            <title>AND FOR THE KIDS</title>
            <link>http://www.bmwccaofest.org/2008/index.php?aid=74</link>
<description>Contributed by Jonathan Van Houtte   The Museum of the Earth is less than a half hour away, on the WG side of Ithaca: http://www.museumoftheearth.org/ What pre-teen doesn&#039;t love dinosaurs and fossils? I know you&#039;ve already listed the Corning Museum of Glass (http://www.cmog.org), but that&#039;s a wonderful place for kids of all ages. I loved it when I was a tyke, and I still love it now. Schedule hours for this, even with young children. A more grown-up museum, with great art inside as well as the I.M. Pei building itself is on the Cornell Campus: http://www.museum.cornell.edu. There&#039;s also the kid-specific Sciencenter in Ithaca: http://www.sciencenter.org. I&#039;m not going to list all the worthwhile restaurants in Ithaca; there are too many. Perhaps the most famous is Moosewood, which produced all those best-selling vegetarian cookbooks, http://www.moosewoodrestaurant.com; it&#039;s kid-friendly, and it may be worth noting that beer is vegetarian. You can also just stroll along and check out the posted menus at Ithaca&#039;s downtown pedestrian Commons. This is one of the few successful such projects in the country, and it&#039;s a happening place, particularly when the colleges are in session (as they will be during Oktoberfest). http://www.ithacarestaurantreview.com/ http://www.ithacamenu.com/ There are also the Treman park(s) and Buttermilk Falls (both of which offer wading/swimming for kids), and Taughannock Falls: http://nysparks.state.ny.us/regions/finger_lakes.asp.</description>
